Celebrating 5 years since the club first came together. A story celebrating the wonderful achievements of the club.
In November 2018 a group of like minded people gathered for the inaugural meeting to form the Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama. The new club, which was sponsored by the Beenleigh Rotary Club and was chartered in 2019 and is now recognized as the go-to not for profit club in our local community. From the beginning we focused on the needs of the community and recognized the need for a youth centre in the fastest growing area in Australia, youth under the age of 15 making up more that 28% of the population. The club is driving the delivery of a PCYC as a priority project for the area in conjunction with The Federal, State, and local governments.

In addition to the push for the PCYC, we have tailored an annual grants program to support local groups and organizations involving youth through Raising funds to cover the grants and other innovative ventures undertaken by the club is never easy, especially during the past Covid period and beyond but through creative thinking we have now established our annual fund raising and promotional events such as:
  • Annual Golf Day - held each year at Gainsborough Greens this year involving 116 players representing 21 corporate sponsors with teams of 4 people plus 32 individual players.
  • Teddy Bears Picnic - held at Heritage Park has proven to be popular with families, especially the children who proudly brought their Teddies along to share.
  • Annual Santa Run - held in association with the Ormeau Rural Fire Brigade with Santa riding on one of the of fire trucks in a cavalcade of fire engines and other vehicles that visit several stops throughout the Ormeau and Pimpama suburbs, distributing lollies to the delight of the youngsters and not so young.
  • Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - are a major contributor to not only our Club but to various local charity and sporting groups through their weekend sausage sizzle – a must do when visiting Bunnings Pimpama on the weekend.

The Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama has also received unwavering and continuing support from our local State Member of Parliament, Mr. Michael Crandon and Division One Councillor, Mr. Mark Hammel.

As part of our grants program, we have also assisted the following organisations:
  • Purchase of a new Fire Command Vehicle for the Ormeau Rural Fire Brigade
  • Purchase of a 12-Seater bus for local not for charity group Esuarve who are achieving outstanding results in turning the lives around with disengaged and troubled youths with their Big Brother Program, helping to make for a safer community for us to live in.
  • Financial Assistance to the Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) located at Jacobs well.
  • Financial assistance to Safe Haven Community - The charity who provides early intervention pathways allowing people to escape abusive relationships before they escalate to violence. Making a difference in our community.

Do you think that you can make a difference – our club offers opportunities for our members as well as others who are interested in making a difference to get involved. We are people of action and extend an invitation to you to join us in having fun whilst making a difference in our community.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
