PCYC for the Community

A new PCYC for Pimpama is another step closer.

The Rotary club of Ormeau-Pimpama has supported this since its formation. Such a great outcome.

The Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama has welcomed the news to establish a PCYC in Pimpama.  Having Championed the cause for the past five years and supported the advocacy and drive of State MP and Member for Coomera Mr Michael Crandon to establish a PCYC in the Ormeau-Pimpama area. Mr Crandon had started the campaign some 10 years ago.

 

Division 1 Councillor Mr Mark Hammel in his first term, joined the cause and has been a driving force with the PCYC initiative, sought available land within the Northern Gold Coast region. Following extensive investigation of several sites, came an announcement earlier this year that the Gold Coast City Council had agreed to a site to establish a PCYC, opposite the Pimpama City Shopping Center.

 

The PCYC was pleased to receive $5 million in the State Budget as seed funding towards the development of the new PCYC to meet the needs of the growing community in Pimpama and surrounding suburbs of the Northern Gold Coast. The proposed club would be delivered in partnership with the Gold Coast City Council, Queensland Government and potentially the Australian Federal Government.

 

The 3,500 m² club will support community safety and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle providing a number of benefits to the local and surrounding growing community. The site has ease of access to bus and train networks and will enable club access to the wider local community of more than 172,000 residents and more than 30,000 young people under 19 years of age.
