Teddy Bears Picnic

This year the Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama is continuing with the annual Teddy Bears Picnic. The event will be held on Sunday 27th July at Norfolk Village State School and will support this years nominated children's charity Variety - The Children's Charity of Queensland. Come along and support this wonderful cause and have a day of fun with the whole family.

Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland supports kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability to be the best they can be. No matter what life throws at them. No matter their ability.
Each year, thousands of Queensland kids receive support from Variety when they need it most.
Together, we’re helping kids be kids!

2024 Teddy Bears Picnic Wrap-up
On Sunday the 9th June 2024 the Teddy Bears returned for another wonderful event. he Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama held a Teddy Bears Picnic at Heritage Park in Pimpama raising funds for Starlight Children's Foundation.
The event offered free activities for children run by local community groups and business, a jumping castle, superslide, tea cups, facepainting, sausage sizzle and a host of other food and market stalls. In addition the South Coast Restoration Society Inc arranged for some of their historic items to be on display. Children were also suprised by the wonderful guest appearance by Humphrey B Bear accompanied by music, dance and laughter.
We also had a wonderful Tiny Home on display built by local youth initiative E-Suarve who hosted a large number of teddies as part of guess how many teddies in the tiny home competition.
Finally the moment everyone was waiting for the Teddy Bears Parade. Everyone participated in the parade with joy and excitement of the children dancing and waving their bears proudly in the air as the judges had the tough decision again to search for the best dressed big ted, best dressed little ted and overall best dressed ted.

Also a special thank you to all of the volunteers, community groups, Gold Coast City Council, Member for Coomera Michael Crandon, and local businesses that made this event possible.
The community event raised just over $10,000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Thank you for supporting this wonderful cause.



2023 Teddy Bears Picnic Wrap-up
On Sunday the 28th May 2023 the Teddy Bears had their picnic. The Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama held a Teddy Bears Picnic at Heritage Park in Pimpama raising funds for Cancer Council Australia as part of the Biggest morning tea campaign.
The event offered free activities for children run by local community groups and business, a jumping castle, facepainting, sausage sizzle and a host of other food and market stalls. In addition the South Coast Restoration Society Inc arranged for some of their historic items to be on display including a popular vintage car called Henry. Children were also entertained by the wonderful Happy Feet Fitness instructors Tammy and Emma with music, dance and laughter.
Finally the moment everyone was waiting for the Teddy Bears Parade. Everyone participated in the parade with joy and excitement of the children dancing and waving their bears proudly in the air as the judges Councillor Mark Hammel, Michael Crandon MP Member for Coomera, and Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama President Wayne Hosier, kept their eyes open for the best dressed big ted, best dressed little ted and overall best dressed ted.

This is another wonderful achievement for the club to host a fantastic family friendly event for the community whilst raising funds for a much needed cause the Cancer Council. The total donations raised from the event was $3120.
